Favorite Characters (Top 10)
1) Will: I already explained this in my last blogpost, but basically I relate to Will the most. He has gone through so much, and shown resilience through it. He is kind, empathetic, and encourages his friends. He is also way stronger than he feels, which was showcased in Season 5 when he hijacks the hivemind.
2) Mike: Both Mike and Will get a lot of hate as characters, and I don't understand it. Mike is an excellent leader, and is encouraging to his friends. Mike is brave and in control of his emotions. He's able to be level-headed in intense situations. He is optimistic, and believes in the best outcomes. He is a really good friend, especially towards Will. He treats everyone as equals.
3) Eleven: Throughout the series Eleven learns what it means to be human, after being experimented on in a lab all of her life. She learns what love and friendship are, and fights for those she loves. She is misunderstood, and bullied for being different. She's the main hero of the series, and jumps into action whenever it's needed. She is always ready to fight.
4) Max: Max is introduced in Season 2 as being a tomboy. She's into skateboarding, and going to the arcade. Due to this the boys are very interested in her. Her character really shines in Season 4 and especially Season 5. Max deals with grief and depression after her step brother dies. Due to this the main villain of Stranger Things, Vecna targets her. She fights against Vecna, and in Season 5 travels through his memories in order to save the 12 children that are being targeted. She becomes a good friend to Eleven in Season 3, and teaches her how to be her own person.
5) Steve: In Season 1 Steve is a high school bully. However, at the end of Season 1 he steps in to help out Nancy and Jonathan after they lure a monster into Jonathan's house. From that moment on Steve's character arc is redeemed. He is quick to put himself in harms way in order to help his friends. He has a big brother role to the group of kids especially Dustin.
6) Dustin: Dustin is one of the smartest characters in the show, and is shown as the star science student. Due to this Dustin is able to come up with plans to help out the others fight against the monsters. Dustin also uses his knowledge from Star Wars, and Dungeons and Dragons to help in situations. He is loyal to his friends, and fun-loving.
7) Nancy. Nancy is another character that changes for the better. In the first season it seems like she is a goodie-two-shoes which isn't a bad thing. Throughout each season she becomes more fierce, and independent. She shows she is a hard-working woman that doesn't deserve to be put down by men. She is powerful, and brave, and a sharp shooter.
8) Joyce: Joyce is the mom of Will and Jonathan. She does everything in her power to find Will in the first season when he goes missing. She never gives up hope of bringing him home, even after everyone in town seems to have given up. After Will is brought back home she does everything in her power to be there for him as he deals with the after effects of his kidnapping. She's highly protective, and works hard to give her sons a good life as a single mom.
9) Lucas: Lucas is a loyal friend to his core group of friends. He is skeptical of El at first, and works to go find Will in the 1st season. He brings in little lines of humor to the show for instance in Season 5 he says, "Suck it Neil Armstrong" when they step foot in the Abyss which looks like a new planet. It's so subtle, but I thought it was so funny. I also love how in Season 5 how he stands up for Dustin against bullies. He is dedicated to Max and visits her everyday in the hospital, believing she will come back. He carries her comatose body out of danger, and kicks one of the monsters that was after her.
10) Hopper: I know Hopper is higher on most people lists, but I do find him intimidating. He has been hurt many times earlier in life, and due to this his personality has been hardened. He's pessimistic at the beginning of the series, and handles others harshly. However, he is very sweet with Joyce and El. He treats, and adopts Eleven as his daughter. He is willing to fight for those he loves, even to the point of even considering sacrificing himself in Season 5. He doesn't give up on what he sets his mind to, even going as far as escaping a Russian prison.
