#canaanite?

A lot of you are probably wondering what #canaanite is.  If you have this question, then that means we've been successful into getting you to wonder what it means or what being a canaanite means.  on Tuesday (February 9th) a family at my church launched a movement on social media, getting people to ask just that.

A canaanite is a person who believes in human equality.  No one person is better than the next, whether they are disabled or not.  The Canaan Project is a project started to help out kids with special needs, and help gain awareness for them.  To spread awareness for these kids the family is set to film a documentary that will be out by May called, "In the Land of Canaan", and by creating the "Canaan Foundation"

This project was started after a church in my family's daughter with special needs passed away in October.  Her name was Canaan, and even though she couldn't speak audibly throughout her life she spread the message of God's love.  Joey and Nikki, the parents of Canaan believe that other special needs children spread the same message.  Being a canaanite can help special needs kids have a voice. Anyone who supported this message but up a picture on social media on February 9th with the #canaanite, and hundreds of photos flooded in.

A few of the people from the church and I went down to Chicago to help gain awareness there.  It was super cold, and everyone froze but it was well worth it.  While holding signs, giving out fliers, and getting people to take #canaanite selfies.
